May’s survey of wetlands and waterfowl across the state revealed that water conditions were good to excessive and a large increase in duck populations especially pintails (as pictured here) and shovelers.
Officials from the Game and Fish Department in North Dakota say ducks have a 293 percent increase in wetland and pond conditions across the state.

Biologist Mike Szymanski said the increase was “the single-largest turnaround in wetland conditions we've ever had”.

In July, the department will conduct a brood count survey that will give officials a much better idea of the state’s booming waterfowl population.
